Eight local young people are boosting their personal money smarts—and their bank accounts—thanks to an initiative of the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, supported by Four Oaks and Dupaco Community Credit Union.

Grant applications now available online. Deadline to apply is May 18.

The Community Foundation will host a free workshop on grantseeking for nonprofit organizations on Friday, May 11 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The session will be led by Kief Schladweiler, Coordinator of Cooperating Collections with the Foundation Center. DUBUQUE — The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and its youth board, the Youth Area Philanthropists (YAPPERS), announce the sixth annual Feed the Need silent auction and soup luncheon on Thursday, March 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Roshek Building lobby.

On November 9, nearly 80 people gathered for breakfast at the Hotel Julien in the name of helping Dubuque’s youth succeed. The event was both a celebration of Dubuque’s recent national recognition as one of America’s Promise Alliance’s 100 Best Communities for Young People presented by ING, as well as an introduction to Every Child/Every Promise’s 2011 Youth Indicator Report, Dubuque’s Promise.
