Nancy Van Milligen, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) was a featured speaker at the America Forward Washington Forum, held November 16-17 in Washington, D.C. 

On November 9, nearly 80 people gathered for breakfast at the Hotel Julien in the name of helping Dubuque’s youth succeed. The event was both a celebration of Dubuque’s recent national recognition as one of America’s Promise Alliance’s 100 Best Communities for Young People presented by ING, as well as an introduction to Every Child/Every Promise’s 2011 Youth Indicator Report, Dubuque’s Promise.

A coalition of Dubuque civic leaders will target early literacy to improve third-grade reading proficiency.

Dubuque achieved national recognition as one of America’s Promise Alliance’s 100 Best Communities for Young People presented by ING for its initiatives to help young people. The competition recognizes communities across the country that focus on reducing high school dropout rates and providing service and support to their youth.

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque celebrated gifts of time, talent, and treasure with donors, funders, nonprofit leaders, and community advocates at its ninth annual donor luncheon and grant awards presentation on October 6 at the Dubuque Golf and Country Club.

A kickoff celebration for the new Born Learning Trail signs was held Wednesday, August 24, from 4:30– 6 p.m. at Bergfeld Pond.
