As the Dubuque community has grown and flourished in the past 10 years, so too, have the needs of local citizens and of the nonprofits who serve them.
The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, in its role as community leader and catalyst, recognized the need for a neutral, collaborative center where nonprofit organizations could convene, research and collaborate. We, as a community, understand that strengthening nonprofits strengthens the greater Dubuque community. No one understood this better than Leo McCarthy.
McCarthy, a founding Board member of the Community Foundation believed that there is no more important work for the Community Foundation than to assure permanence of the nonprofits here in the Tri-State area. His belief was that the best way to ensure the future of charitable organizations is through capacity building and growing nonprofit endowments.
The McCarthy Center for Nonprofits will serve as a central hub for local nonprofit collaboration and development while serving as a clearing house for technical assistance and training. The center is home to a number of resources that strengthen local nonprofits and communities.
