Bridges for Businesses is the based on the Bridges out of Poverty training by Ruby Payne and Philip DeVol. The training is designed to increase participants’ awareness of the differences in economic cultures and how those differences impact opportunities for success.

Project HOPE is currently exploring ways to reach area businesses with the Bridges out of Poverty training to further expand the knowledge of what poverty is and how it affects people in the community through employers and local businesses.

2. CRC (Career Readiness Certificate):
The National Career Readiness Certificate verifies to employers anywhere in the United States an individual has essential core employability skills in Reading, Math, and Locating Information. ACT has researched over 16,000 occupations and these three skills are highly important to the majority of jobs in the workplace. The Certificate is an easily understood and nationally valued credential that certifies the attainment of these workplace skills.

When employers ask for the National Career Readiness Certificate for jobs in their workplace, they tap into the most qualified labor pool in the area. Applicants with a National Career Readiness Certificate provide solid insight into their foundational skills in the core areas of Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information.

Iowa Workforce Development serves as a test center for Dubuque and has already awarded the Career Readiness Certificate to several individuals. http://www.iowaworkforce.org/region1/dubuque.htm
