Shared Youth Vision Grant

Goals & Focus Areas

Shared Youth Vision is a federal grant from the Department of Labor to the Iowa Workforce Development. An interagency agreement placed the management of the grant within the Division of Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning. Dubuque and Buena Vista counties were selected by the Iowa Collaboration for Youth Development as pilot communities from August 2007 through December 2008. The Community Foundation was awarded the grant with the overall goal of improving outcomes among youth (14-24) who are currently involved in or who have aged out of care through the Iowa Child Welfare or Juvenile Justice Systems.

Goals of the grant:
Establish a multi-sector partnership,
Review data and complete a resource and gap analysis,
Engage system-involved youth in leadership and decision-making roles,
Develop capacity to facilitate youth-centered planning, modify the Community Partnerships for Protecting Children (CPPC) Family Team Meeting Model to create individualized course action for youth.
