Iowa Transfer of Wealth
Between the years of 2000-2049, Iowa can expect to see $531.7 billion transfer from one generation to the next through probate estates. In 2010 through 2019 alone, $74.43 billion is expected to pass to heirs.
Jones County Transfer of Wealth
During years 2010-2019, $468 million is expected to transfer from one generation to the next through probate estates. Between 2000-2050, the estimated transfer is $3.3 billion.
|Transfer of Wealth||Jones County||State of Iowa|
|2010-2019||$ 468 million||$ 74.43 billion|
|2000-2049||$ 3.3 billion||$ 531.7 billion|
If just five percent of the projected transfer between 2000 and 2050 could be invested at the Community Foundation, nearly $165 million would be endowed. Figuring a five percent grant payout, an estimated $8.2 million could be available annually to improve the quality of life in our community and secure our future.
YAPPERS, Youth Area Philanthropists, meet once a month during the school year to learn the fundamentals of philanthropy and play a direct role in making financial grants to local youth-serving organizations. The Jones County Community Foundation is expanding the program into Jones County by creating a YAPPERS board for high school students to thrive on.
The board will be comprised of area high school students. This one-of-a-kind experience engages young people in creating social change and growing compassion and empowers youth to collectively choose and fund nonprofit organizations that are addressing the most pressing needs in our community.
This program is continuously changing and improving year after year. Our goal is to bring together the finest students interested in making a positive impact on their community through philanthropic efforts with their fellow students.
At this time, we are reaching out to the high schools in Jones County in hopes to compile a list of students highly interested in participating in our efforts. If you know a student who may be interested or have any questions, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications are due September 9.
