Best Practices In Diversity, Equity And Inclusion Workshop Series

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and the Inclusive Dubuque Network, in partnership with the YMCA/YWCA are excited to announce the return of the eighth-month peer-learning workshop series; Best Practices in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). These monthly learning opportunities empower individuals, businesses, nonprofits and organizations to create pathways that enhance and improve self-awareness, recruitment, retention and workplace culture.

Participants will leave each session with tools and processes to put into immediate practice.

•The learning modules will be led by local diversity and inclusion educators and practitioners. To benefit our learning, each session will include local testimonials about practices that worked and didn’t.

•The learning modules build on one another. They will provide tools and best practices that can be adapted and made relevant to individuals as well as all sectors and organizational levels. The tools and best practices will be applicable to a variety of diversity focuses, including race, age, culture, gender expression, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, class or disability.

•Participants will have the opportunity to develop action steps to support their organization’s equity and inclusion goals.

•Ongoing mentorship will be available for those who wish to develop concrete action steps and project plans for their organization.

•Consistent participation will create an atmosphere of trust as we continue to learn how to build harmony, cohesiveness, productivity, and profit in our community and organizations. We know that for DEI to be successful, buy-in from the top levels of leadership is needed.

We hope that you and/or members of your organization will participate in these modules. This is an opportunity for us to begin to engage in best practices around DEI, which will impact ourselves, our workplace policies and our culture. Please note that these workshops are not comprehensive diversity training. Monthly sessions will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. in the McCarthy Center for Nonprofit Learning, Roshek Building, 700 Locust St., Dubuque. Snacks will be provided.

Cost: $250 per person for eight month series.
