Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque Awards $46,800 to local nonprofits through Community Impact Grants Program
At its third annual Community Block Party, the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) announced recipients of this year’s CFGD Community Impact Grants. Now in its 11th year, the Community Impact Grant program funds proposals in three priority areas:
Strong Nonprofits: Proposals that build capacity to meet community needs, create collective impact, and ensure collaborative data and investment in leadership.
Thriving Families: Proposals that build increased self-sufficiency, create success in the lives of young people, and ensure lasting commitment to healthy neighborhoods.
Vibrant Culture: Proposals that build appreciation for the arts, create opportunities for increased social offerings, and ensure openness to a growing diverse population.
Kari McCann, CFGD director of nonprofit partnerships and grantmaking, announced the grants totaling $46,800 to the following nonprofits and programs:
Hills & Dales Child Development Center - $1,000
Community autism training
Dubuque Area Labor Management Council - $1,500
New website design to support TechWORKS, a high school program for students interested in building a foundation in a career pathway
St. Mark Youth Enrichment - $3,500
Conscious Discipline training for area schools and nonprofits
Multicultural Family Center - $4,500
Professional development for Multicultural Family Center’s leadership team
iJAG - $5,000
Support for programming at two sites in Dubuque
NICC Foundation –$5,000
Transport of students from the Dubuque center to the Peosta campus
National Mississippi River Museum –$5,200
"Development 2.0" project to increase the museum’s capacity to engage donors, cultivate prospective donors, and empower staff to meet community needs
Dubuque Rescue Mission – $6,100
Rooted Chef, a program to help underemployed participants earn ServSafe certification in food handling and develop soft skills
Project Concern - $7,500

Friends of Dubuque County Conservation – Parks to People - $7,500
Complete a strategic plan for Parks to People Initiative to develop and expand recreation areas in Dubuque, Jackson and Jones Counties.
Since the program’s inception in 2004, the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque has awarded a total of $353,110.The grant program is made possible by donations to CFGD’s unrestricted funds.
