Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque Presents New Community Showcase at Mystique Community Ice Center on Friday, February 3

The Community Foundation invites the public to the Community Showcase, a new winter community event taking place on Friday, February 3, from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Mystique Community Ice Center.

In honor of its 15-year anniversary, the Community Foundation has reinvented the former Community Block Party in a new venue. The celebration is free to the public and offers an opportunity to learn about local nonprofits and vote for your favorites to help them win prizes. Nearly 70 nonprofit organizations will compete for votes with interactive booths and prize drawings.

Thanks to the new location at the Mystique Community Ice Center, the Showcase will also feature:

  • Free ice skating and skate rental from 4-5:45 p.m.
  • Free entertainment from the Dubuque Chorale Cadenza, The Grand Opera House, and the Ignite Mazzuchelli Catholic Middle School Show Choir
  • Concessions for purchase, including food, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages
  • Free parking

In addition, the Community Foundation YAPPERS (Youth Area Philanthropists) will again be offering their “Sweet Treats” cake and cookie auction to support 2017 YAPPERS grants to youth-serving nonprofits, as well as a Kids’ Corner with face painting and other activities especially for kids.

After the Showcase, community members can also stay and enjoy a free Dubuque Devils hockey game.

“For our 15-year anniversary, we’re expanding our winter community-wide nonprofit celebration. There will be more space to interact with nonprofits, free entertainment, and free ice skating,” said Wendy Sweeney, Community Foundation nonprofit partnership coordinator. “We hope community members will take advantage of this opportunity to support their favorite nonprofits in a fun and festive atmosphere.”
