Foundation for Dubuque Public Schools Announces $70K to Judi Chandlee Tribute to Teachers Fund

DUBUQUE, IOWA—The Foundation for Dubuque Public Schools (FDPS) announced a $70,000 gift from the family of the late Judi Chandlee in support of classroom grants across the district on Friday, January 6.  The announcement was made at Eisenhower Elementary School during an all-school assembly celebrating kindness, the character word of the month.  Judi's husband, Wayne, and their children Britt, Chad, and Marni, attended the assembly with their families.

Judi Chandlee served Dubuque’s students for more than 20 years as a kindergarten teacher at Eisenhower Elementary school.  She passed away in 2011, after battling cancer.  This significant gift from Chad and Laura Chandlee is given to recognize what would have been Judi's 70th birthday, and to show support for all teachers and students in the district.

The Judi Chandlee Tribute to Teachers fund is an endowment, or permanent fund, invested with FDPS’ partner agency, the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque.  The annual earnings will be used to provide classroom grants for teachers in the Dubuque Community School District, as overseen by FDPS.  Friends, family, school district staff, and the public are invited to make their own charitable gifts to this fund, in support of grants to teachers now, and forever.

Applications for Judi Chandlee Tribute to Teachers grants will be available to DCSD teachers on February 15, 2017, through the FDPS webpage at www.dbqfoundation.org/FDPS.  For more information, contact Jennifer Klinkhammer, FDPS executive director, at Jennifer@dbqfoundation.org or 563.588.2700 or visit www.dbqfoundation.org/FDPS.
