Healthy and Dynamic Edgewood/2015 plans announced

Edgewood, IA - Edgewood Economic Development Executive Director Elise Bergan recently hosted a planning conference to launch Healthy and Dynamic Edgewood/2015. She was joined by Corrine Kroger, M.J. Smith and Cody Funk. Kroger and Smith represent the Foundation for the Future of Delaware County, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and Funk is a Cedar Falls landscape architect and former Edgewood resident.

Kroger and Smith outlined ways that a recent USDA grant for Philanthropic Tools can support Edgewood’s planning efforts. Funk is currently working with the Edgewood Chamber of Commerce to study and plan for future recreation facilities.

Healthy and Dynamic Edgewood/2015 is a community conversation slated to start in February. The conversations will include a community survey together with community meetings. The discussion questions within the small group meetings and survey will address the strengths and opportunities related to current and future health, recreation and wellness programs and facilities in Edgewood.

Several Healthy and Dynamic Edgewood/2015 Community Conversations will be scheduled and the entire community will be invited to participate. Findings from the process will be used to advise decision-makers about the community’s hopes and dreams related to health, recreation and wellness. The Community Foundation will then continue to advise the development of grant applications and project funds to support the community’s interests.

Healthy and Dynamic Edgewood 2015 is a partnership supported by the Edgewood Economic Development Corporation, Edgewood Chamber of Commerce, Foundation for the Future of Delaware County, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque; and the USDA.
