Save The Date For The FDPS Annual Luncheon

Tom Preston-Werner is an American inventor, software developer, and entrepreneur who was born in Dubuque, Iowa in May 1979. He is best known for being the cofounder and former CEO of the company GitHub.

Growing up, Preston-Werner showed all the signs of following in the footsteps of his father, a contractor and computer aficionado, as he tore apart machines and computers around the house. Preston-Werner's father passed away when he was 11, having already indoctrinated him in technology and
engineering. He started work on a degree at Harvey Mudd College in California, but left after two years to work on a company started by two other students. Preston-Werner and two of his colleagues helped software programming come into the web-based social networking age when they founded GitHub, an online coding platform that allows users to interact and collaborate on projects.

Join us at our Annual Luncheon on April 9, 2019 to learn more about how the Dubuque Public Schools impacted Preston-Werner’s education and what we can do to encourage more students to think outside the box.
