Theisens More for Your Community grant program awards more than $250,000 to serve the basic needs of children and families

Theisen’s Home • Farm • Auto has announced that 180 nonprofits will receive more than $250,000 in grant awards through the company’s More for Your Community grants program. Based on grant application estimates, the grants will benefit more than 600,000 people in 22 Theisen’s store communities throughout Iowa and Wisconsin. The full list of 2015 grant recipients is available online at www.dbqfoundation.org/theisens.

Now in its seventh year, the Theisen’s More for Your Community grant program has given away nearly $1.2 million to support local nonprofit organizations and the people they serve.

“With these grants of $252,345.68, we are simply giving back to our community and the people we serve,” said President Jim Theisen. “We are so proud to support these nonprofit organizations as they provide food, shelter, healthcare, safety and education to children and families in and near to our store communities.”

The donors who support this grant program, which include Jim and his sons Chris and Tony, take active roles in evaluating each year’s many applications. They also make annual site visits to nonprofit grantees to learn about community needs and to meet the nonprofit leaders serving our children and families.

Nonprofits will receive their grant checks at More for Your Community grants celebrations hosted by 22 Theisen’s store locations throughout Iowa and Wisconsin on Monday, November 16 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

The Theisen’s More for Your Community corporate giving program is a partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD). CFGD President and CEO Nancy Van Milligen said, “The Foundation is proud to provide efficient and effective grantmaking support to these generous corporate leaders as they give back to their communities.”
