The Board of Directors started gifting monies to local tri-state survivors in 2002 after a dear friend and her family dealt with breast cancer and her death. After this initial act of giving the board members started hearing about other breast cancer survivors with financial need. They learned about single mothers with young children, families that had insurance with high deductibles or not enough coverage for the expensive treatments. Some families had difficulty due to the loss of income of the patient. Others dealt with breast cancer, as well as, other medical situations for themselves or other family members. The Board of Directors wanted to help more people who were struggling financially. With the addition of this third goal a silent auction was added to the annual event. Over the years Images & Information has helped senior citizens who live on fixed incomes and are forced to make difficult financial decisions like food vs. medicine. During the recession some lost their jobs while their bills mounted. Some dealt with terminal cancer. A few passed away. Many have recovered and are paying it forward by getting involved with Images & Information and raising money to help others. Images & Information is an organization whose volunteers believe that giving back to the community is important. Because of this - and the generosity of our sponsors and the community - Images & Information has been able to keep the costs of the annual event to a minimum. Over 90% of all funds raised are given back to breast cancer survivors with financial need in our local tri-state area. To date, Images & Information has given over $200, 750.00 to Tri-State Breast Cancer Survivors who have financial need.
