Emergency response entities in Dubuque County have collaborated since 1999 to develop the Dubuque County Emergency Responder Training Facility. This facility enables firefighters, law enforcement officers, and EMS workers to train under real-life emergency situations while doing so in a safe and controlled environment. In addition to serving emergency responders, the facility is made available to community business and industry partners for training opportunities. Additionally the facility serves as a location where the public may be educated in emergency preparedness and basic safety.
The Dubuque County Firefighter’s Association has taken the lead role in the creation of the Emergency Responder Training Facility. The facility is operated by the Dubuque County Firefighter’s Association, a 501 (c) (3) organization. Ownership remains with Dubuque County through an agreement between the two entities. Oversight of the facility is through the Dubuque County Firefighter’s Association Executive Board, with operational management done by the Training Operations Committee (TOC).
