The Foundation for the Future of Delaware County (FFDC) was formed in 2005 as an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque. The founding members of the organization had a vision to ensure that our community's charitable programs were supported now and in the future. We work together with many individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to establish endowment funds that will provide grant awards for years to come.

Iowa Transfer of Wealth
Between the years of 2000-2049, Iowa can expect to see $531.7 billion transfer from one generation to the next through probate estates. In 2020 through 2029 alone, $98.25 billion is expected to pass to heirs.
Delaware County Transfer of Wealth
During years 2020-2029, $558 million is expected to transfer from one generation to the next through probate estates. Over the next 50 years, the estimated transfer is $3 billion.
Transfer of Wealth | Delaware County | State of Iowa |
2020-2029 | $ 558 million | $ 98.25 billion |
2000-2049 | $ 3 billion | $ 531.7 billion |
If just 5% of the projected transfer could be invested between now and 2050 at the Community Foundation in an endowment, $148 million would be secured forever. Figuring a 4.25% grant payout, an estimated $6.33 million could be available annually to improve the quality of life in our community and secure our future.
