Amber Community Club Plans for Sustainable Future

For nearly 50 years, the Amber Community Club has been serving Jones County.  Now, everyone has the opportunity to support the Club and its community center for many years to come through its newly established endowed fund at the Jones County Community Foundation.  The Amber Community Club Endowment Fund will provide a reliable and sustainable source of funding, forever.  Once an endowment reaches a $10,000 milestone, the fund will payout 5% every year.

Located just a short drive from Anamosa or Monticello in the unincorporated village of Amber, the Community Club is famous in Jones County for its regular pancake breakfasts.  It’s so famous in fact that, according to Club President Bobby Krum, it attracts more than 400 people each year for its pancakes alone.

Last year, Community Foundation endowment payouts exceeded $35,000, which according to Foundation President Patty Manuel, will continue every year.  "These funds help to preserve our area organizations forever," said Manuel. "The Foundation is happy to help donors and organizations support the causes they care about.”

Gifts to endowed funds are eligible for the Endow Iowa 25% State Tax Credit. This tax credit is in addition to the federal deduction for charitable gifts. Endow Iowa is a financial incentive for individual donors, families, and businesses to create or build endowments to give back to their community. For some donors, the actual cost of the gift is 40 cents on the dollar; and the increased charitable impact per dollar gifted is one of the reasons endowments are growing in Jones County.

Brought to Amber in 1967, the community club building was once the Wayne Zion parish hall. The building was moved from its location beside Wayne Zion Church, two miles down the road to Amber in May 1967.
