Chandlee Family Donates Computers to Senior High School Spanish Department

DUBUQUE, IOWA -- Chad and Laura Chandlee recently donated 30 new laptops and a charging cart to the Dubuque Senior High School Spanish Department through the Foundation for Dubuque Public Schools.

The laptops are being shared across the World Languages Department, with students of all skill levels using the new computers to enhance learning through audio visual exercises, proficiency assessments, in-class games and activities.  The computers also provide a data collection tool for the teachers to track each student’s progress and assign work targeted to increasing fluency and aptitude.

Chad and Laura Chandlee are alumni of Dubuque Senior High School and active supporters of Dubuque’s public schools.  Education has always played a role in their personal and professional lives as the family business, Kendall Hunt Publishing, continues to lead the way in K-12 and higher education textbook publishing.  With four children currently enrolled in Dubuque’s schools, the Chandlees often direct their philanthropic giving to address immediate needs.

“The entire World Language Department is thankful for the generous gift of a laptop cart from the Chandlees,”, said Heather Black, Spanish teacher. “ The laptop cart is great resource that enhances student learning and allows more students access to technology.  Since the laptops are on a mobile cart, all world language students are able to benefit from such a wonderful donation!”
