CLINTON, Iowa—The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque has awarded more than $10,000 to Clinton nonprofits through two programs: Community Impact Grants and Women’s Giving Circle.

Community Impact Grants

This year, 10 nonprofits received Community Impact Grants totaling more than $37,000, including grants for $8,000 supporting the following Clinton nonprofits:

  • L’Arche Clinton - $3,000

L’Arche Clinton Inclusion Center

  • Clinton YWCA - $5,000

YWCA Clinton Coordinated Entry Expansion

Community foundations use philanthropy to address complex social challenges, benefitting their communities and improving the lives of people in their geographic region — and the Community Impact Grant program is one way the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque accomplishes that goal. Unlike many grant programs, Community Impact Grants focus on building capacity of local nonprofits by supporting training and development, collaboration and coaching, research and planning, and operations.

The Community Impact Grant program was established in 2004 and is made possible by donations from community members to the Community Foundation’s Community Impact Fund. Annual payouts from this endowment fund have supported a total of $492,195 in grants to nonprofits across the Community Foundation’s eight-county service region.

More information and a complete list of Community Impact Grant awards is available at dbqfoundation.org/communityimpact.

Women’s Giving Circle Grants

This year, the Women’s Giving Circle awarded six grants totaling $15,600, including a grant for $2,400 to YWCA Clinton’s second-shift child care program.

The Women’s Giving Circle, organized through the Community Foundation, brings together women from all walks of life to learn about community needs and to build the Circle’s endowment fund. Payouts from this fund provide a sustainable source of grant funding to support local nonprofits serving women and children in our community.

More than $40 Million in Donor-Supported Grants

Dollars from funds established by donors and nonprofits at the Community Foundation have distributed more than $40 million to nonprofits since the Community Foundation’s inception in 2002, including $7.6 million last year alone.

CFGD also works closely with its Clinton affiliate, the River Bluff Community Foundation, to connect donors to local causes they love. To learn more, visit dbqfoundation.org/riverbluff.
