Community Foundation Announces Planned Giving Seminars with Johni Hayes

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) is hosting two planned giving seminars with charitable gift planning expert Johni Hayes on Monday, June 24 at the Grand River Center, 500 Bell Street, Dubuque.

With almost 20 years experience as a practicing attorney in charitable and estate planning, Hays is a recognized expert on charitable gift planning and in demand nationally as a lecturer on the subject. She is author of Essentials of Annuities and has been published in several national publications including Estate Planning Magazine, Planned Giving Today and National Underwriter magazines.

From 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Hayes will present a “Planned Giving and Ethics Seminar for Professional Advisors.” This presentation will include updates on charitable tax laws, ethical case studies in charitable gift planning and charitable gift planning strategies with farmland, equipment and other assets. This event is approved for 3 hours of CEU and CLE credits including one hour of ethics for each.

The cost is $50 and includes lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an opportunity to meet with representatives from local nonprofits including: CFGD; Luther Manor Communities, Matter Creative Center, Riverview Center, St. Mark Community Center and Two by Two Character Development.

From 1 to 2:30 p.m., individuals who have or will have estate plans are invited to attend Hayes’ afternoon session, “Five Ways to Protect Your Estate Plans with the New American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012.” This seminar is presented free of charge by CFGD, Luther Manor Communities, Matter Creative Center, Riverview Center, St. Mark Community Center, and Two by Two Character Development. Attendees are also welcome to attend lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This seminar is for educational purposes only and no solicitation will be made of guests.
