No one knows what tomorrow will bring. But with the new Greater Dubuque Forever Fund, the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque is prepared to address a broad range of emerging needs, ensuring that our region offers resources and opportunities that strengthen it for the future.

“Years ago, we couldn’t have predicted what the community’s needs would be today,” says Nancy Van Milligen, president and CEO of the Community Foundation. “Each day, we are inspired by how our neighbors tackle unexpected challenges and care for others’ needs.

“The Forever Fund is a way to harness that generous spirit and amplify it through the power of endowment.”

Through the Forever Fund, the Community Foundation can strategically deploy resources to address complex social challenges in areas like health, education and economic opportunity. By working with nonprofits, listening to residents and collecting data, the Foundation works to understand the community’s needs.

This process ensures that the Forever Fund’s resources benefit the areas of greatest impact. In addition, the Community Foundation’s commitment to working closely with donors helps generous individuals understand how they can make their investment in the community go further.

“We can’t predict what needs lie ahead, but we know and trust that the Community Foundation will have its finger on the pulse of our community’s well-being,” say supporters Jane and Dave Heiar of Dubuque. “The Forever Fund is a way for us to give toward the future. The strength of a community depends on how well we take care of each other, and the Forever Fund is exactly that.”

As an endowment, the Forever Fund will continue to grow in perpetuity and pay out a percentage of interest annually to help address community needs. Gifts of $50 or more to the fund are eligible for the Endow Iowa 25% State Tax Credit.
