The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque Unveils New McCarthy Center for Nonprofit Learning

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) will officially open the new Leo A. and Joy K. McCarthy Center for Nonprofit Learning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26.

The McCarthy Center for Nonprofits was founded in 2008 by the late Leo McCarthy and his wife Joy to help strengthen nonprofits throughout Northeast Iowa. As a founding CFGD board member, McCarthy believed that the Foundation’s most important work was to ensure the permanence of nonprofits by helping them to build capacity and grow endowments.

The new McCarthy Center for Nonprofit Learning is conveniently located on the second floor of the Roshek Building at 700 Locust Street in downtown Dubuque. Designed to provide accessible, affordable meeting space for nonprofits to conduct business, obtain training and convene community groups, the 2,175-square-foot conference room features state-of-the-art technology including video conferencing capabilities. Donations from many generous community members have made the facility possible, including a major gift from John and Alice Butler and a $25,000 grant from the Dubuque Racing Association.
