Edgewood Economic Development Recipient of Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque Award through USDA Rural Development Grant

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) received a $152,492 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI) program. RCDI helps community-based development organizations, federally recognized Indian tribes and other groups promote economic growth in low-income, rural communities.

CFGD’s grant seeks to build greater prosperity and sustainability in four rural counties in Iowa and Jo Daviess County in Illinois. The grant to Edgewood Economic Development will fund a community planning process that will focus on improving health, wellness and recreation in Edgewood.

“The Board of Directors of the Edgewood Economic development group was proud to hear that we had been one of the cities chosen as a recipient of the RCDI grant,” said President and CEO Steve Brady. “This grant will allow us to carry out strategic planning for the vital mission of greater health and wellness. Edgewood has successfully completed numerous projects. By receiving this grant our community will have a jump start as we continue to fulfill our mission to perpetuate the vitality and vibrancy of rural living in Iowa.”

“We look forward to partnering with Edgewood Economic Development to strengthen rural philanthropy in Clayton and Delaware Counties,” said MJ Smith, CFGD director of affiliate foundations. “The USDA will be a strong ally in this work and we are grateful for its support.”
