Foundation for Dubuque Public Schools Preview of 2019

The Foundation for Dubuque Public schools is looking ahead to an impactful 2019. We will work closely with the Dubuque Community School District, guided by its strategic plan, to focus on the following programs:

Field Trips
To enhance instruction and more deeply engage students in their learning, the school district is interested in organizing off-campus experiences. To support this goal, FDPS, through our Field Trip Fund, is funding two trips: a performance at the University of Dubuque Heritage Center for all first-graders and a hands-on adventure for all fourth-graders at the Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. We hope to fund trips for additional grade levels in coming years.

Project-Based Learning
Hands-on activities don’t just engage students in their academics, they also allow them to learn from community members and prepare them for career opportunities. Our Project-Based Learning Fund can help grow hands-on experiences across the district.

Technology
To further engage parents, guardians and community members in student learning, Dubuque schools are using the SeeSaw learning journal that allows students and families to interact electronically throughout the day with activities happening in the classroom. To enhance the experience, additional iPads are needed in schools, which FDPS aims to support through the Technology Fund.
