Garnavillo Emergency Services Building Fund Supports Capital Campaign

Over the last completed calendar year, Garnavillo’s fire and emergency medical service (EMS) volunteers responded to a total of 100 calls, providing essential emergency services for their community.

With this dedication in mind, the Clayton County Foundation for the Future (CCFF) is proud to host the Garnavillo Emergency Services Building Fund. This project fund supports a community fundraising effort to construct a new home for fire and emergency medical service (EMS) volunteer training and response efforts.

Lack of space in the current facility, an old creamery building retrofitted for the fire and EMS departments in 1969, requires several rescue units to be housed off site, making it difficult for volunteers to respond to emergency calls. The new energy-efficient and code-compliant facility, to be located at the site of the former Garnavillo Elementary School, is more than triple the size of the current space and includes seven double-deep bays for response vehicles.

The Community Foundation supports this community capital campaign with project funds and provides gift accounting and acknowledgement services in accordance with IRS regulations—freeing fire and EMS  volunteers to focus on providing ongoing public safety and medical services. In addition, the Foundation assists the local volunteers with professional communications around charitable giving so that donors are effectively informed about community needs and ways to help.

Community members interested in supporting this fund may give online at www.dbqfoundation.org/CCFF or send checks payable to CFGD/Garnavillo Emergency Services to the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque.

In addition to cash gifts, the Foundation is also able to accept gifts of grain, livestock, IRAs, stocks and mutual funds from donors.
