Jones County Community Foundation to award $89,000 to support area nonprofits

The Jones County Community Foundation (JCCF) will grant more than $89,000 to support local nonprofits on Thursday, December 3 at its annual gifts and grants ceremony.

13 nonprofits will receive grants at a reception held at the Jones Regional Education Center in Monticello at 5:30 p.m.

The following grant winners will be recognized at the ceremony:

  • Iowa Department of Natural Resources - to grade and pave the entrance that connects Shaw Rd to Hale Bridge, as part of the planned Anamosa Trail, connecting Anamosa with Wapsipinicon State Park - $19,125
  • Anamosa Athletic Booster - to provide items for a concession stand to at the new ball diamond complex - $15,000
  • Wyoming Volunteer Fire Company – for a new Jaws of Life to replace a current outdated machine - $12,000
  • Wyoming Fair Association – to support building improvements at the Wyoming Fairgrounds - $7,500
  • Jones County Economic Development – for the production of Jones County promotional videos - $6,375
  • The Fair & Exposition Society of Jones County, Inc. – for security and surveillance technology for the Youth Development Center - $5,000
  • Olin City Park – to support the Olin City Park’s bathroom upgrade project - $4,700
  • Jones County Historical Society – for the Edinburgh Pioneer Village Restoration Project - $2,800
  • Anamosa Festivals - to support the Grant Wood 125th Birthday Celebration - $2,500
  • Monticello Area Chamber of Commerce – to help build the Downtown Pocket Park in Monticello -  $10,000
  • Little Lion Learning Center – to purchase Time Manager Software - $1,300
  • Grant Wood Scenic Byway – to engage visitors in the Grant Wood Scenic Byway Corridor through tear sheet maps - $500
  • Monticello Heart & Soul – to provide materials and support for the Heart & Soul Monticello Initiative - $2,400

The Community Foundation exists because of the generous donations of individuals, families, organizations, businesses and various agencies in Jones County communities.

The JCCF receives funds each year from the Iowa Department of Economic Development County Endowment Program, of which 75 percent is granted out each year. The other 25 percent is maintained in a permanent endowment with the income to be distributed in future years.
