Jones County Community Foundation to Host Board Boot Camp

The Jones County Community Foundation is hosting a Board Boot Camp on April 21 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Youth Development Center, located at 800 North Maple Street in Monticello.

The Board Boot Camp is a workshop designed for Jones County community members to learn more about the roles and responsibilities of board members.

“Board Boot Camp is a great way for community members to learn more about nonprofit organizations and how they can give back through board service,” said Kari McCann, Director of Nonprofit Partnerships & Grantmaking for the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque. “This workshop is for new or incoming board members, seasoned board members and anyone interested in nonprofit work.”

This two-hour session teaches: the differences in nonprofit and for-profit entities and board service, legal considerations, and how to be an effective board member.

The event is part of a series of nonprofit workshops sponsored by the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, the Jones County Community Foundation, the Great Jones County Fair, and the USDA Rural Community Development Initiative.
