Jones County Community Foundation Welcomes Kromminga, Manuel and Sanborn
The Jones County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, welcomes new members Greg Kromminga and Janet Sanborn to its advisory board, and is pleased with the return of long-time member and former president Patty Manuel. Kromminga, Sanborn and Manuel follow in the footsteps of departing members Vic Hamre and Dean Zimmerman.
“We thank Vic and Dean for their service to the Community Foundation,” says Sherri Hunt, foundation coordinator. “We are excited by the new and returning faces that will be around our table, helping us continue impactful grantmaking, endowment fund development and improving the well-being of children in the community.”
Kromminga is the third-generation owner of his family business, Kromminga Motors in Monticello. He served the Monticello School Foundation for more than a decade during successful fundraising that supported a large perpetual fund for the betterment of the Monticello Community School District
He also is involved in the Monticello Development Corporation and is active in giving back to the community. He says he is excited about continuing community teamwork through the Community Foundation.
Sanborn of Anamosa is a senior credit officer at Citizens Bank. She has served on the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church finance committee, as treasurer for Anamosa Lunches for Youth, and as a member of the Anamosa Rotary and Anamosa Chamber Ambassadors.
“I’m dedicated to seeing my community succeed. I believe in shopping locally, and I intentionally partner with a variety of individuals to support the community,” says Sanborn. “In my new role with the Foundation, I’m excited to learn more about Jones County as a whole and understand the impact that the Community Foundation has made and can make in the future.”
Manuel rejoins the board after a year off. She resides in rural Olin and is a lifelong resident of Jones County. In addition to eight years of service with the Community Foundation, Patty has volunteered with numerous organizations and boards, including Jones County Economic Development.
“I find volunteering rewarding. The numerous nonprofits in our county all play a part in ensuring Jones County is a great place to live, and the Foundation is a vehicle to encourage sustainability of these nonprofits through grants and endowments,” she says. “The Foundation’s community leadership efforts are an added bonus as we educate ourselves about needs and how we can help address them, like we are doing with Vision To Learn and the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading.”
“Greg, Janet and Patti are helpful additions to the board,” says Hunt. “We look forward to working with them to serve donors, make grants and provide community leadership through convening and collaboration over the next several years.”
