Kids Ride the Free Way to Fun City!

This summer, from June 1st – September 2nd, The Jule will again be offering the Free Way to Fun City program. Through collaboration with ECIA, Every Child/Every Promise, OnMedia, and Dupaco Community Credit Union, youth up to 18 years of age can ride the bus for free.

K-12 participants that show bus drivers their Free Way to Fun City bracelets, or last year’s school ID, can ride the bus this summer for free. Beginning May 20th the bracelets can be picked up at City of Dubuque Leisure Services, The Jule or the Carnegie Stout Public Library, and at  participating Dubuque Community schools. Bracelets from last summer can also be used.

ECIA and Every Child/Every Promise have convened a committee of community leaders to ensure that young people in Dubuque have safe and convenient public transportation options.  “This program gives Dubuque’s children access to the wealth of exciting things that are happening in the community throughout the summer,” said Katie Foust, Every Child/Every Promise Coordinator.

Dupaco Community Credit Union is providing marketing support for the program in partnership with OnMedia. The Jule offers fixed route public transit throughout the city. During the summer The Jule also provides “Downtown Summer Trolley” service for free in downtown Dubuque and the Port of Dubuque, as well as a city-wide demand-response (aka “Mini-Bus”)  service to eligible participants.

Every Child/Every Promise, in strategic alliance with the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, works to engage the community in delivering the Five America’s Promises—a Healthy Start, Safe Places, Caring Adults, an Effective Education and Opportunities to Serve—to the children of Dubuque County.
