Mediacom Arts and Cultural Foundation of Dubuque Grant Applications Due July 31

DUBUQUE, Iowa—Local nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply for grants from the Mediacom Arts and Cultural Foundation of Dubuque to gain financial support for community arts and cultural projects. Grant applications are now available online through the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque. The submission deadline is July 31.

Approximately $25,000 will be allocated to nonprofit organizations within the city of Dubuque, with awards to be announced in September. This year marks the 13th consecutive year that Mediacom will fund local organizations to support projects that enhance art and cultural experiences for Dubuque residents and visitors. According to Mediacom’s Area Operations Director, Don DeMay, 187 grants have been awarded since 2006, for a total contribution of $395,813 that has supported performing arts, fine arts, local cultural projects and special arts experiences for youth.

Applications for the 2019 grants are available at dbqfoundation.org/mediacom. Arts and culture grants awarded in 2019 will fund projects to be staged or implemented in 2020.

Proposed projects must meet a funding request minimum of $1,500. Grants may fully fund requests ranging from $1,500 to $2,500. A 50% cash match is required for grants between $2,500 and the maximum award of $5,000. Local citizens oversee the grant selection process by serving as board members for the Mediacom Arts and Cultural Foundation of Dubuque. Current board members are Gail Chavenelle, Connie Twining and Kathleen McMullen, and Mediacom employees Trisha Butcher and Kate Kastli.
