New fund will support The American Legion-Arthur McCullough Post 13

Ever since 1919, The American Legion-Arthur McCullough Post 13 in Anamosa has been serving service members, veterans, and their community. Now community members have the opportunity to give back to the organization.

In the interest of securing its long-term financial health, members of the Post 13 Executive Committee voted to establish a non-endowed fund with the Jones County Community Foundation.

“Establishment of this fund will allow donors to receive a much larger tax benefit and will help the Post to fund their recently established scholarship, as well as other worthwhile community projects,” said Legionnaire Bill Goodman.

Post 13 is one of 48 Posts in Iowa’s 2nd District and operates under the Legion’s four pillars: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation; National Security; Americanism; and Children & Youth.

“The Post is involved in a myriad of activities throughout the community that instill values and perpetuates a sense of patriotism,” said Goodman. “We’re educating youth and reminding the adult populace that freedom does not come without a price.”

The American Legion-Arthur McCullough Post 13 will join several other organizations serving Jones County supported by a fund at the Jones County Community Foundation.

“The American Legion-Arthur McCullough Post 13 is an essential resource to area service members, veterans, and to the community of Anamosa,” said Foundation President Patty Manuel. “We are proud to support them.”
