Building a strong Dubuque region means ensuring that women and children have access to resources that help them thrive, and the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque’s Women’s Giving Circle is at the forefront of providing for those needs.
Next month, the Community Foundation will host a free open house for Dubuque-area women to learn about the Women’s Giving Circle and how they can be part of the group’s work to improve lives in the community through philanthropy.
The public is invited to the event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5 at the Dubuque Museum of Art, 701 Locust St. While admission is free to the general public, the cost is $10 for current Women’s Giving Circle members.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet and talk with current Women’s Giving Circle members and representatives from the Community Foundation while enjoying complimentary hors d'oeuvres, refreshments and the Dubuque Museum of Art’s latest exhibit, The Merry Makers: Paintings by Carrie Pearce.
The Women’s Giving Circle brings together women from diverse backgrounds with a common goal to improve the lives of disadvantaged women and their families. Through education, grantmaking and a variety of activities, members are active philanthropists making an impact in the community.
Attendees will find out how they can join the Women’s Giving Circle, be directly involved in learning about needs in the community and take an active role in grantmaking decisions.
“The Women’s Giving Circle is a wonderful way to make new friends while working together to make an impact on the people we call neighbors,” said Whitney Sanger, Women’s Giving Circle membership coordinator. “We all enjoy each other’s company — but most importantly, we all enjoy giving back.”
