YAPPERS award grants to local nonprofits
A local group of school-age philanthropists known as YAPPERS recently awarded more than $8,000 in grants to youth-serving agencies in Dubuque County to help strengthen and grow their programs.
The group of young grantmakers is organized by the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and engages in teambuilding and leadership activities, discusses issues facing local children, plans events and service projects, and makes funding decisions to support youth-serving organizations.
“The future of our region is bright,” says Jenna Manders, the Community Foundation’s director of strategic relations, who oversees the group. “After spending their school year raising funds and assessing community needs, they we refaced with adversity and ultimately responded to the needs of youth impacted by COVID-19.”
