Parks to People Invests over $50 Million Throughout Region

With the end of 2018, the Parks to People initiative wrapped up a regional effort to enhance, promote and sustain recreational opportunities throughout Jackson, Jones and Dubuque counties. Since the initiative began in 2014, over $50 million has been invested in more than 60 projects across the region, including park improvements, mountain bike trails and habitat restoration.

"The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and the affiliates in Jones County and Jackson County helped us with the money up front to take state officials around and show them the great parks that we have as well as some of the great communities that we have," said Nicolas Hockenberry, director of the Jackson County Economic Alliance. "On individual projects throughout the entire region they've donated over $100,000, so they've been great ongoing partners."
